Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson aren’t bothered about each being paired up with other stars, even as there are rumors about Gerald becoming Sarah Geronimo’s next leading man. The two revealed to ABS-CBN.com that they would rather enjoy their current team up than worrying about future pairings.
“Alam po namin na balang araw, mangyayari ‘yon. We’re just really happy na sa love team namin ngayon, we’re really focused on what we’re doing, and helping each other. Tinutulungan namin ang isa’t-isa. So dito lang muna kami magpo-focus. Kung mangyari man ‘yon at least we’ll be ready,” Gerald admitted. And while the idea of having other leading ladies other than Kim saddens him, he refuses to let this bother him and affect his work. “You feel na, ‘Oh no (on having other leading ladies), pero at the same time, I was thinking na nagte-taping pa kami ng Tayong Dalawa, so mas mahaba pa ‘yung panahon namin ni Kim na magkasama,” Gerald said.
Kim, on the other hand, confessed that instead of getting worrying about the possible breakup of their love team, she would just rather focus on work. “Hindi naman namin iniisip na, ‘Ay ayan, magkakahiwalay na tayo. Hindi na natin gagalingan.’ ‘Di namin pinag-uusapan. Darating naman ‘yun kung kelan,” Kim revealed.
For the Lenten holidays, Kim and Gerald are looking forward to a well-deserved break. While the actor intends to just stay in his new house to just rest, Kim said that she will go to Bohol with other celebrity friends. Gerald also admitted that he will now focus on saving up for his future after building his dream house. “Para sa akin gusto ko naman mag-ipon. After the exciting love chase between Jasmine and Julian, the two finally end up walking down the aisle in the grand finale of My Girl. At last, Lolo Greg was convinced of Jasmine’s sincerity towards Julian and the depth of his grandson’s love towards her. With his blessing comes the beginning of a new life for the country’s much-loved couple on Primetime Bida.
Although this was not a part of the Korean version, the wedding scene was supposedly an extra treat for all the viewers who made the series a top-rating show. Kimerald fans will surely love this uber kilig make-believe union between the show’s lead stars, Kim Chiu and Gerald and Anderson.
On their last taping day at the Fernwood Gardens, the two were instructed not to see each other prior the wedding ceremony as if theirs was a real marriage. “Masaya and at the same time excited. Kasi ginagawa nila talaga na parang totoong kasal kasi hindi ko pwede makita si Kim. Siguro para mafeel namin yung Filipino tradition kapag may ikinakasal. And gusto ko rin maramdaman kung anong feeling ng isang groom,” Gerald revealed in an interview with ABS-CBN.com that same day.
The dashing young actor also confided that he was on the phone with Kim the night before, teasing her that they were getting married for real. “Binibiro ko nga siya eh. Kagabi sabi ko sa kanya magpapakasal na kami. Sabi niya, ‘Hindi naman totoo eh.’ Sabi ko, ‘Hindi, totoo ‘yan totoo ‘yan, magpapakasal na talaga tayo. Tapos tawa lang siya ng tawa. Alam mo naman si Kim,” he recounted.
True enough, Kim merely laughed when asked about her and Gerald’s isolated dressing rooms in lieu of their so-called wedding. Nevertheless, she felt equally excited since this was the first time she and Gerald had a complete wedding shoot, “Kinikilig ako syempre para kay Jasmine lalo nung nag-propose si Julian sa kanya. Nakakatuwa kasi unexpected yung nangyari. Na finally namanhikan na siya kasama si Lolo Greg sa pamilya ni Jasmine,” she added.
In real life, the bubbly actress revealed that she hopes to find someone like Gerald to be her husband-to-be. Then she further described her dream wedding with whoever she ends up with, “Ako kasi gusto ko yung colorful, tapos masaya. Tapos syempre simple lang yung daloy ng kasal, parang normal lang talaga. Importante magakakatuluyan talaga kayo nung [dream guy] mo. Gusto ko church wedding siyempre, para sa harap ni God kayo mangangako.”
In the meantime, Kim simply reveled in her last day as the Pinay My Girl, “Nakakalungkot kasi matatapos na yung My Girl. Lahat ng eksena mula sa simula hanggang matapos, sobrang memorable kasi for me. Ang galing nung transition na masaya tapos naging malungkot, sobrang lungkot, tapos ngayon naman sobrang saya ulit. Parang nangyayari siya sa totoong buhay ‘di ba?”
Gerald also felt the same. “Nakakalungkot pero I’m very proud of the outcome of our show. Ang dami naming cast members. At least yung tatlo (Robi Domingo, Nicole Uysiuseng, and Josef Elizalde) nakasalang sila kahit papa’no after PBB. I got to work with veteran actors like Tito Ron (Ronaldo Valdez), Ms. Bing (Loyzaga)... So learning experience talaga,” he ended.  When his character Julian has changed into the more laid-back type in My Girl, Gerald Anderson finally breathed a sigh of relief. "At least hindi na ganun kahirap yung ginagawa ko. Kasi nung una, napakaseryoso niya, sobrang uptight pa. So kailangan nakatayo lang lagi ng derecho. Now more of Gerald na [yung] character," said the good-looking actor during a chat with ABS-CBN.com. Seeing Julian’s continuous pursuit of Jasmine also reminded him of his own courting style in terms of perseverance and making a girl feel really special. "May nililigawan ako dati, bago ako magshowbiz. Lagi
ko siyang sinusundo sa school niya pero lakad lang at saka jeep," he fondly recalled. And even without a flashy car to impress the girl back then, he at least made sure to pay for their jeepney fare and to do little things that proved his sincerity. "Kahit umuulan andun ako sa labas. Gusto ko kasi ipakita sa babae na matyaga ako, na andito ako lagi para sa kanya." Though he still remained elusive when it comes to matters of the heart at present, Gerald’s sweet and caring nature stayed the same especially towards his My Girl co-star Kim Chiu. He could easily be her knight in shining armor as thousands of fans have witnessed when he whisked Kim away from an over-zealous crowd during their recent mall show in Ilo-Ilo. "Sobrang dami ng tao tapos apat o limang guard lang ang nagbabantay sa amin so parang hindi ko na sila sinusundan kasi wala na talaga eh. Ayun, binuhat ko si Kim. Dinala ko siya sa likod pagkatapos nung show," he happily recounted. With kilig moments like that, is it possible that they have developed deeper feelings for each other this time around? "Paulit-ulit ko namang sinasabi na mas naging close kami. Pero dito sa My Girl, iba talaga yung bonding namin dito." Gerald further admitted that he will always remember their Baguio trip for the show. "First time namin mag-taping out of town except for Tagaytay. Pero this one mas malayo talaga. Yung scenes namin kung saan kami nag-shoot sobrang ganda."
